Lansing, Ill. — Join the Lansing Human Relations Commission and a host of esteemed partners for the FREE MLK Unity Brunch, a celebration of community, equality, and the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This special event, presented in collaboration with Elvis Slaughter of the NAACP South Chicago Area, the Executive Board of the Hammond NAACP, Brenda Boyd of Stone Soup, and Common Ground, will feature inspiring speakers, uplifting music, and impactful presentations.

The occasion is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at In the Upper Room Ministry, 17601 Wentworth Ave. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

Actor/Speaker Ted Williams III, Humanities Road Scholar and member of the Illinois’ Reparations Commission, will be the featured speaker. Williams has led numerous civic engagement initiatives, provided board leadership for various non-profits, and is often called upon as a speaker and consultant on the topics of social justice, diversity, and effective communication.
