As we reported, Monet Wilson took a total of $247,000 from the PPP Loan Program claiming over $1 million in payroll expenses as shown in documents released by the US Small Business Administration. One of those loans pertains to a charity that she operates named “Tomorrow’s Youth Foundation” and a sole proprietorship providing the same services. Combined, Wilson used her sports entity to obtain $90500 from the program. Public records show a set of conflicts regarding the applications.

The PPP Loan Program was implemented to extend a 20% portion of wages to employees involved in impacted businesses. The program year of 2019 was used to make the calculations.

Tomorrow’s Youth Foundation
The PPP Loan application corresponding to Tomorrow’s Youth Foundation claimed 2 employees who were purported to each have been paid $72,000 in the year 2019 according to SBA records.

The form 990 prepared for Tomorrow’s Youth Foundation by a certified public account for the year of 2019 indicates there were no employees or compensation paid in any amount. The filing shows volunteers but not compensated staff. The form 990 also indicates the charity took in a total of $22k for the year which was used for program expenses.

Sports Sole Proprietorship
Through another loan, Wilson claimed to have a separate sole proprietorship that also provided sports and recreation instruction. That loan application claimed to have 4 employees who also were paid $72,000 each in the year 2019 for a total of $290,400 in payroll. This netted a PPP Loan check in the amount of $60,500.

We could find no verification of the sole proprietorship and so far, Wilson’s statements do not name any of the employees purported to have been paid $72,000 in the year of 2019.

You Have Paid For This
The PPP Loan Program was implemented by the federal government and paid for by you. Wilson has not answered any of the substantive questions arising from these documents. Her political allies, James Patton, Nyota Figgs, Tiffany Henyard and DeJuan Gardner have not either. Because they seek your vote, they all owe you an explanation.
