Early in person voting in the 2025 municipal primary election began this week. Of particular attention in this cycle is the fate of embattled Mayor Tiffany Henyard and the people of Dolton have an important choice to make.
Henyard was first elected as Dolton mayor in 2021. Politically young and vivacious, Henyard won handily. To voters, she had understandable appeal. Henyard represented change but as it turned out, not for the better.
Henyard has been embroiled in controversy for lavish spending which includes first class trips to places such as Las Vegas, steak dinners, $250,000 annually for a security detail, funneling money to her own charity, all at the expense of taxpayers. Henyard is also the focus of an FBI investigation and ran the city budget roughly $7 million in the red each year since taking office.
In one of the most bizarre incidents we have ever seen, Henyard dressed up as Nino Brown for a council meeting and demanded of residents, “pay me what you owe me.” The people of Dolton do not owe Henyard a single thing. Instead, she owed Dolton responsible leadership, transparency and service. Tiffany Henyard did not deliver that.
Henyard is being challenged by Trustee Jason House. Along with his slate which includes Alison Key for Clerk, Trustee Brittney Norwood, Trustee Kiana Belcher and Trustee Edward Steave. Named Clean House 2025, this group of candidates are working hard to win for the people of Dolton.
Dedicated to restoring responsibility and transparency to Dolton government, these leaders would be a welcome change from the grift and mayhem brought by Henyard and her crew.
The early voting site for Dolton is the Calumet City Public Library at 600 S Manistee in Cal City. Hours are 9pm to 5pm on Monday through Saturday and 10am to 4pm on weekends. For your convenience, we have a google map below.
