As we reported, Calumet City Alderwoman Monet Wilson has formed a political alliance with Dolton Mayor and Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard. Cal City Clerk Nyota Figgs is also in the group. Now we have learned that Wilson tried to scuttle a citizen led rally that called for accountability from Henyard.
Henyard has become embroiled in scandal over her frivolous use of tax payer resources, lack of transparency, failure to maintain services and consistent budget deficits, among other things.
Citizens had enough and when a grassroots group organized a rally against Henyard continuing as Thornton Township Supervisor, Wilson tried to stop it. The rally entitled “Take Back Our Township” was scheduled for last spring to be held at the River Oaks Mall in Calumet City. According to rally participants, that is when Wilson told the citizen group they could not hold the rally citing a lack of event insurance. The location is not even in Wilson’s ward.
Fortunately the group exercised their right to assemble and held the rally despite Wilson’s efforts to silence them.
Henyard has fleeced the constituents using public resources like her own piggy bank, failed to maintain services such as transportation for seniors and stood with Andrew Holmes who was embroiled in a sexual assault controversy.
By doing Henyard’s bidding, Wilson is enabling her. It is clear that Wilson lacks the ethics and values necessary to put the interests of the public ahead of her own political ones.
