CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A container full of holiday donations for a South Side children’s charity that went missing over the weekend has since been found in Chicago Heights, police told Patch.

The container was stolen from a storage lot in Englewood sometime over the weekend and found nearly empty on Wednesday night. The donations were being collected and stored for Kidz Korna’s Winter Wonderland Giveaway Driveby & Tour, an annual event for local children to receive toys, coats, electronics and other gifts or necessities.

A spokesman for Chicago Heights police told Patch the department is assisting Chicago police but did not have additional information as of Friday.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the crate — a 53-foot-long shipping container — was almost completely full before it was stolen. Flags of the Heart, another local charity, is working with Kidz Korna founders to replace the nearly $50,000 in lost items.
