CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — There was an increased police presence at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights after messages suggesting a school shooting might happen Thursday were posted on Snapchat.

The messages showed a picture of a gun, with a caption that states “Y’all tweaking hard asl … just wait for twr …. damn.” Another Snapchat that was publically posted on Facebook said, “Bloom stay safe y’all … y’all bloom kids crazy.”

Another message shared suggested the threat might stem from a fight. Principal Jerry Lee Anderson sent an email late Wednesday night informing parents that police were aware of the threat. An increased police presence is now at the school.

“Access to the building and movement around the school will be limited,” Anderson wrote. “Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.”
